Serving Our Neighbors Experiencing Food Insecurity

There are currently over 34 million people in America who are food insecure. Of those 34 million, 9 million are children! Closer to home, according to Feeding America, 1 out of 8 people, including 1 out of every 5 children across Central Florida reside in homes that are currently food insecure. The City Beautiful is not a place of beauty and hope if almost a fifth of children have no access to healthy meals 3 times a day. 

Found Ministries International, a faith-based nonprofit organization, has been working with a team of volunteers and donors to provide food, hot meals, groceries, and hope to those in need. In the last year, Found Orlando has distributed over a thousand meals to economically disadvantaged families, unsheltered individuals, and disabled veterans across Central Florida. However, there is so much more to be done. Whilst there remain families and children going to bed and making their way to school without a healthy meal, and whilst our unsheltered neighbors across the Greater Orlando metropolis struggle to access a hot meal, there is room for Found Orlando to step into the foray and do more to help combat hunger within our communities and beyond. 

Beyond our objective of reaching, loving, and helping to know and follow Jesus, the vision for Found Orlando is to ensure that people can experience practical hope. Jesus’ teachings compel our hearts, our hands, and our feet to reach out to the disadvantaged and the hungry by ensuring they have access to the most basic of human needs – food. We hope to raise the bar and provide thousands of healthy meals and other necessities to children, families, and those experiencing homelessness across Central Florida. We envision a partnership of donors, volunteers, churches, corporations, and food banks to share hope collaboratively and allow families the dignity of having access to meals and other necessities. 

Together, we can share hope, love like Jesus, and fight hunger within our communities.
